Eternal Light | Seattle Choral Company

As long winter nights give way to lengthening, budding spring days, the Seattle Choral Company presents our spring concert, Eternal Light. The title draws from the featured work, Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, a beloved 20th century composition with a glowing, soul-lifting sound.

The Seattle Choral Company’s mid-season concert brings back to the repertory a true masterpiece of the 20th century — Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna (Eternal Light). The SCC presented the first Seattle performance of this beloved contemporary work in May of 2000, with the composer (a Washington native) in attendance. About the performance, Seattle Times music critic Melinda Bargreen wrote, “The audience was already on its feet, with a standing ovation for the Seattle Choral Company’s first Seattle performance of Morten Lauridsen’s ‘Lux Aeterna’.”

Mass No. 2 in G Major by Franz Schubert

Encore! 37th Annual Dinner Show and Auction

I’ve been singing as a member Seattle Choral Company since 2018, and after a long virtual-only chapter, we are incredibly grateful to be singing together in person again. Our Annual Auction—back for the first time since April 2019—is a night of fun, musical entertainment, dinner, and auctions all in support of the choir that has been a home for me here in Seattle. Even though I’m in it for the singing, I might just have to call this my favorite event of our year.

One of the highlights of the night is a musical revue performance by a small group of performers - and I’ll be among them!

Please visit the Seattle Choral Company website for details and tickets.

Our mid-season concert features three works, on a theme of darkness giving way to light.

Rutter’s Requiem is unmistakably optimistic in its message of hope and solace, expressed through uplifting musical themes and beautiful texts in both Latin and English. Join us also for Bob Chilcott’s Canticles of Light and Pēteris Vasks’ The Fruit of Silence.
